Visitor FAQ

Q) What activities are there for children during Sunday services?

A) Activities for children are available every Sunday during our main 10.30 service at Slaugham. There are a range of children’s groups which take place aimed at different age groups. For information on these please see our dedicated children’s work page.

Q) What facilities are available for babies & toddlers?

A) A crèche is in operation throughout the main 10.30 service at Slaugham. This is overseen by a member of the church but you are very welcome to remain with your child. Nappy changing facilities are also available.

Q) What are the main differences between services?

A) Having services across 3 churches and a very diverse congregation means that a range of different services are available each Sunday. The main service takes place at 10.30 at Slaugham and involves a live band as well as activities aimed at children. The services at Staplefield are more traditional in nature and take place at the earlier time of 9.00. Please see our dedicated services page for more detailed information or alternatively contact the church office on 01444 400221.

Q) Are their facilities for people with disabilities?

A) One of the most important reasons for re-ordering St Mary’s church was to further cater to any visitors with disabilities. The church floor is now completely level and a disabled toilet has been installed for visitors using wheelchairs. Their is also a loop installed for visitors with hearing aids. St Mary’s also has use of a private church car park (thanks to the generosity of our neighbour) which is intended for use by elderly / disabled visitors.

Our other churches are also accessible for people with disabilities. However due to the lack of a dedicated car park, and steps leading to All Saints church Handcross, we recommend that you contact the church offices in advance of your visit so that a car parking space can be reserved and appropriate assistance provided.

If you would like further information or advice relating to any particular need you may have then please contact the church offices on 01444 400221.

Q) What is the parking situation at each church?

A) Slaugham: Parking is available in the main church car park or upon the roads outside. If parking on the road please show respect to the villagers by not obstructing entrances or mounting the verges.

There is also a private car park next door to the church. This has kindly been made available for elderly / disabled persons who are visiting the church.

Handcross & Staplefield: Neither of these churches has a dedicated car park, however there is a large amount of space for parking on the adjacent roads.

Q) Are there refreshments available?

A) Yes! Hot drinks and biscuits / cakes are served after all of our main Slaugham services. During café church services food is set out for consumption during the service. The kitchen area can be accessed at all times for cold drinks.
